Between 1929 and 1939, Disney produced 75 animated short films in the Silly Symphony series. Music Land was the 55th in the series and was released on September 14, 1935. It tells the story of two kingdoms, The Land of Symphony and the Isle of Jazz, which are located side by side. The princess (a cello) in The Land Of Symphony, falls in love with the prince (an alto sax) of The Isle of Jazz. The two are caught flirting by the princess’s mother and the prince is sent to jail. This action causes the Isle of Jazz to sound out a battle cry and a musical ‘war’ begins. This classic animation is highly imaginative and the characters, all of which are musical instruments, are very creative.
