In this classic clip from the 1936 film Modern Times, Charlie Chaplin sings the song “Titina”. He is to sing the song and writes the lyrics on his shirt cuffs. Unfortunately, these flies off upon his entrance and he has to make up the words. Also featured in this clip is actress Paulette Goddard. When Chaplin sang this song in Modern Times, it was the very first time that the world heard his voice. His previous performances were all silent pantomime.
